Frequently Asked Questions

  • The International Coach Federation defines coaching as a process of empowering people to tap into their highest potential. Coaching is not about solving an individual problem. It’s working in partnership with a coach to create new pathways to achieve the success.
Mostly, it is a conversation. We talk about your concerns, build on your strengths, and expand what is possible for you. Coaching concentrates on where you are and where you want to go. We develop a plan and the tools you need to achieve it.

  • Clients come to coaching for many reasons. Some come because there is some part of their life that feels off. They say, “I know I should be happy. I have a good job, and my relationships are good; yet something feels like it is missing. I feel stuck, and I don’t know what to do.”
Some clients come to resolve a specific issue like changing careers, improving relationships communication, or learning how to take better care of themselves. They too often feel stuck and don’t know where to start. It feels like one step forward and two steps back.
Some people are ready to grow and reach new goals. They want to stretch themselves as a person, partner, and professional. Often, they are not sure how to get started or exactly what stretching themselves means.
Most people discover having a coach helps them stay committed, figure out the answers they need to achieve their goals, and take the steps to be successful.

  • My current rate is $140 per hour for individual coaching. Most often the sessions last an hour; however, occasionally, we may need additional time to complete an important segment. If that happens, we will extend the session until we come to a place you feel complete for the day. I will check with you before we go over. I do prorate additional time within regular sessions beginning at 15 minutes. Additionally, I offer free unlimited email support between sessions. Also, sometimes things that are unexpected and unplanned come up. Something you are not sure how to navigate, or you need to process what happened and it cannot wait until our regular meeting. You need to talk about it now. You can call me to help you to get to the place where you feel you are back to a place to manage. There is no extra charge for these services.

  • You can choose to meet weekly or bi-weekly. It takes time and regular practice to change old ways of thinking and responding into new behaviors. Some people choose the frequent connection provided by once-a-week meetings. It keeps their momentum on track. It also makes sure the process doesn’t get sidetracked.
Other people feel meeting once a week feels rushed. There isn’t enough time to process and practice the new ideas and behaviors that come out of our time together. The pressure feels overwhelming, and their worry of admitting they have not tried the new behavior can shut them down.
It is up to you, and we can change it any time to best meet your needs.
As for how long I work with someone, 12 sessions is a good starting point. It gives you enough time to anchor your learning into sustainable habits. From there, many people choose to continue to work with me until they understand how their patterns work in various parts of their life, so they can manage them. We gradually spread out the time between meetings until they feel they no longer need my support. However, whether we work together one session or for years depends on what best serves you.

  • When choosing a coach, it is important to feel connection and trust. These are essential elements to achieve the results you want. In order for you to feel you can bring any topic to coaching without fear or reservation, you need to trust the coach understands you and will hold a safe space for your work. Some people feel an automatic energetic connection to me, and others need more time. I recommend you talk to several coaches to get a sense of what feels best for you, and what will best serve your needs.
